Welcome to the offical site of the Bicycle Mayor of Victoria

The most beautiful roundabout! Eindhoven bringing innovative cycling infrastructure to the people.

The Hovenring, commissioned for the Dutch city of Eindhoven, is a spectacular suspended circular cycle bridge that shows the world that something as practical as a cycle path can be beautiful and functional.
With Victoria lagging behind the Dutch (and even our American neighbours) in our move to truly be the cycling capital of Canada, the Hovenring serves as an example of what can be achieved with political support and allocating the right amount of money.

Designed by Ipv Delft, the bridge looks like a flying saucer that illuminates the inner circle in the evening. The company's underlying vision, is that a good design should be simple, effective and inspired.

The Hovenring, a steel bridge hovers above a huge intersection of Heerbaan and Meerenakkerweg, marking the entrance way to the cities of Eindhoven and Veldhoven. With the development of new housing and growing traffic an innovative solution was needed.

Hovenring replaces the usual combination of cycle paths and bike-friendly traffic lights that are commonplace throughout the Netherlands, providing total segregation from traffic for people navigating the junction on foot or by bike.
