Temptation Tuesday - Up-cycled Bicycle Crates

You might have seen a glimpse of this crate at one of Le Velo's pop-up shops this summer and it was featured in my most recent Tweed Ride favourites blog post. Just in case you are not totally in love with it yet, I thought I would give you a few more reasons to be!

I mentioned before that the Up-cycled Bicycle Crate is the most recent addition to Le Vélo's Bespoke Collection and we are so happy with how they turned out. As you can see in the picture above, the crate is fairly large but not so big that it will weigh down your bike (assuming you do not carry bricks around with you. Good on you for trying!) or protrude too far off the back of your bike rack. The crate was designed with both functionality and beauty in mind and we think it covers both pretty well. Each crate is hand crafted locally for Le Vélo out of recycled maple. The wood is then finished using LifeTime Wood Treatment which allows for a weathered look over time and does not need to be re-applied. LifeTime Wood Treatment was chosen because it is gentle on the wood and is environmental, plant, animal and people friendly.

As far as functionality goes, this crate is pretty perfect. It comes with universal hardware so that it fits on to most bike racks and makes for a great shopping accessory when you take your bike to the market or grocery store. Although most of the summer markets are done now, we hope that you are able to get out on your bike this fall. Because the Up-cycle crate is protected against the elements, you do not need to worry about it getting a little wet when you accidentally get stuck in that classic fifteen minute downpour Victoria is so famous for! (it happened to me today...oh well I am dry now!) Try and bring your crate inside so it doesn't stay too damp but otherwise you are good to go!

We love these crates and we hope you do too! Happy Riding all!
